The British company can be proud of great consistency throughout its history. As the leading European brand it has always been dedicated to the 4x4 all-wheel drive. As one of the oldest companies beyond Jeep, it was created with the presentation of the Rover Series I at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948, a car destined to off-road routes in order to compete with its rival. It was inspired by the cars used by the Americans in World War II. The car won the hearts of the customers right away, and it was updated a decade later with the launch of the Series II, and in 1961 with the Series IIA. In 1967, it joined the Leyland automaker initially active in the commercial vehicle sector, that was merged a year later with the British Motor Holdings to form the British Leyland, which failed soon (after the launch of the Series III) and Land Rover was created, an initial still used to name the jeep, that became a brand in its own right, and became privatized in 1988. In the 80s, it debuted the 5 doors Ninety and One-ten, respectively evolutions of Series and Defender. Land Rover joined BMW in 1994, and in 2000 the company was sold to British Ford, and from this moment on further expansions of the range followed: In 2002, it debuted the third generation of Range Rover, in 2004 the third evolution of Discovery, and in 2005 it debuted Range Rover Sport, the first luxury SUVs in history, based on the previous model, which revealed to be a great success. In 2008, the brand was sold to Tata Motors, the current owner of the brand. The range rover has been revisited, we remember one of the last successful models: the fourth series of Discovery, the Range Rover Evoque 2011, Ranger Rover Vogue and Range Rover Sport
